Comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy is projected to win the second round of the Ukrainian presidential election with a landslide, Ukraine’s Central Election Commission (CEC) announced in Kiev on Monday.

With more than 95 percent of the ballots counted, Zelenskiy’s got 73.19 percent of the vote against incumbent President Petro Poroshenko’s 24.48 percent.

CEC Chairperson Tetiana Slipachuk stated that the elections were “transparent, democratic and free.”

“There are no reasons to suspect that these small violations on the spots, which I was talking about yesterday, can affect the results of the elections,” she added.

The runoff vote was needed after no candidate emerged as a majority winner in the first round on March 31, with Zelenskiy gathering 30 percent of the vote against Poroshenko’s 16.85 percent.
