Thousands of Palestinian took to the streets of Ramallah on Wednesday, marking Prisoners’ Day and honouring political prisoners held by the Israeli authorities.
A number of organisations took part in the rally, including the Palestinian Committee for Prisoners Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoner Society, the Center for Defending Freedoms, and the Ramallah Governor’s Office.
Protesters paraded through the streets holding Palestinian flags and the photographs of jailed Palestinians.
“Our message to our prisoners in the Prisoner Day – which is in coincidence with the hunger strike of the prisoners and the severe attack of the Israeli prisons administration against them – is that we tell them that all of our people are with our prisoners and we are supporting them” said Khaleda Jarrar, from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
Jarrar, who stressed that their final demand is to obtain freedom for the people jailed, said she was committed to expose their suffering to the world and the violations perpetrated against them.
