Russian President Vladimir Putin chaired a Security Council meeting in Moscow on Tuesday, discussing the need to develop and improve Russia’s space industry.

“Russia has vast experience in developing and producing of space technology, in the preparing for the space flights and the realization of vast scientific programs in orbit. This is a unique platform that should be constantly developed,” the Russian leader said.

He pointed out that the global space industry is rapidly growing, urging Russia not to “just tread water or continue to talk about previous achievements”.

Putin also announced that Russia’s new Angara-A5M rocket is expected to be launched for the first time from the Vostochny space center in 2025.
