Reporters Without Borders has just published its latest Press Freedom Index. The index is based on the rate of violence against the media, be it by the state or others, access to information, and legal restrictions.
Eritrea, North Korea, and Turkmenistan are at the very bottom of the table. At the top of the index, the northern European countries of Norway, Finland, and Sweden are listed. But the picture is not so positive in other parts of Europe. European Union member Hungary dropped 14 places to 87. DW caught up with a Hungarian journalist who left Viktor Orban’s Hungary and now lives in Germany.
