Irish troops from all branches gathered to commemorate the 103rd anniversary of the Easter Rising in Dublin on Sunday.

The military parade took place at what used to be the rebellion’s headquarters, the General Post Office, and was attended by Irish President Michael D Higgins and Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.

The Easter Rising, also known as Easter Rebellion, was an armed insurrection that took place in 1916 during Easter Week, when Irish Republicans began fighting against the UK to end their rule over the island.
