Prime Minister Juha Sipila was filmed at Keskusta Party election party in Helsinki on Sunday, reacting to the results after 36 percent of the votes had been counted, projecting his party in the third position with 15.4 percent of the votes.
The opposition Social Democrats have been projected in the lead with 18.9 percent of the votes, whereas the National Coalition of outgoing Finance Minister Petteri Orpo came in second with 17.2 percent.
Sipila’s government resigned on March 8, after the three centre-right parties forming the coalition – the Centre Party, the National Coalition Party and Blue Reform – failed to agree on a social and healthcare reform package.
